Job Description

About the role

Working closely with Practice Leaders, Leah Hollis and Skye Rose, you will provide advice, representation and training to clients on a complex range of workplace relations matters. Our team provides representation in various courts, commissions and tribunals.

The role will involve a broad range of industrial and employee relations matters including enterprise bargaining, award and enterprise agreement compliance, managing complex employment disputes and litigation including unfair dismissals and general protections matters.

There is a high degree of autonomy in the role, and you will work closely with our clients in the education, housing, disability, health and NFP sectors.

With a busy team of lawyers, there is no shortage of quality work on offer, but the opportunity to develop your practice is something that Moores is keen to support.

Desired Skills and Experience

About you
You will have approximately 2-5 years’ experience as a workplace relations/employment lawyer or specialist.  The path you have taken to become a lawyer and gain your experience is what makes you an individual – the more diverse the better.

As a key member of our team, you will be:

  • Conscientious and collaborative.
  • Have excellent research, drafting, communication and project management skills.
  • Adept in excel, working with numbers and formulas.
  • Have strong attention to detail.
  • Have an interest in presenting, building your practice and developing strong client relationships.
  • Experience managing wage compliance, underpayment claims, and regulator contact is not essential but would be highly valued.

About us

Moores is not a traditional law firm. We are unique because:

  • We actually innovate – we were the first law firm to ditch time sheets in favour of value pricing. We price value, not time.
  • Our staff love working here – Moores recently ranked in the top 25% of Australian organisations surveyed by InSync in relation to employee engagement.
  • We are truly flexible – a large proportion of our staff and practice leaders work flexibly or part time.
  • We are proudly inclusive, diverse and committed to gender equality – our CEO and more than 50 percent of our practice leaders are female.
  • We pride ourselves on being professional, but we don’t wear suits unless we have to.
  • We value work-life balance, so we focus on working smarter.
  • We have a strong commitment to pro bono and social impact.
  • We focus on working with purpose aligned clients to deliver great outcomes that benefit the community.
  • We keep it real - we’re a down to earth bunch who listen and are open with each other. We don’t take ourselves too seriously.
  • We do it with heart - people are the heart of Moores. We like and care about each other, and proud of the culture we’ve created.

Other benefits of joining our team include:

  • Opportunities to work on multi-disciplinary teams
  • Access to interesting, challenging and varied work.
  • Supportive Practice Leaders who are committed to your professional development and provide training.
  • Tailored learning and development initiatives.
  • A supportive and enthusiastic team, which thrives on working collaboratively with clients to find solutions to complex problems.
  • Leave purchase options, a wellbeing program and community based activities.
